Portraits of Hope
WonderBra is proud to feature three inspiring women – each the embodiment of
courage as a survivor of breast cancer. Lise, Debi and Joanne are living proof that
with determination, strength and courage, breast cancer can be a thing of the past.
Let’s spread the hope.

Like many grateful survivors of breast cancer, Lise
Leblond is proud of her victory. But above all, she is
proud of the dramatic personal growth she has achieved
since her diagnosis.
Diagnosed at the age of 45, Leblond clearly remembers
the fear she felt when her doctor delivered the bad
news. Moreover, she remembers the confusion she
felt while undergoing her double mastectomy in 1985.
Twenty-two years after this devastating blow, she
believes that the cancer was a sort of gift that offered
rich life lessons.
“It was a gift that let me know myself,” said Leblond.
“I learned what makes me happy and how to be happy
in my own skin.”
She started this radical phase of personal growth when
a technician in the oncology department at the hospital
suggested that true healing starts on the inside.
“To be frank, I was wondering what she was implying!”
recalled Leblond, laughing. “But I began serious
introspection which completely changed how I see
things and how I handle life’s daily problems.”
Enjoying robust health and an exuberant life, Leblond
wants to encourage women to confront breast cancer
— today!
“Don’t give up! Spend time with positive people and
don’t bottle things up inside,” she recommended,
focusing on the importance of living in the moment.
“Express your emotions as you feel them. I think that’s
the big secret!”
